VP Strategy & Technology at R. Stahl AG

Prof. Dr. Thorsten Arnhold studied Electronics at the Technical University Dresden. At the same University he got his Dr.-Engineer - Title (comparable to PhD in Anglo Saxon countries). He has a Diploma for Marketing Management from the St. Galler Business School (SGBS) and started his business carrier as a Senior Quality Engineer at Commodore Computers. For 29 years he is working for the German Manufacturer R. STAHL. His current position in this company is VP Technology. In this position, he is responsible for the research activities of the group, the development of new technologies and the coordination of the standardisation activities. From the very beginning of his carrier at STAHL he is strongly involved in numerous activities at international standardization at the International Electrical Committee (IEC) and its European partner CENELEC. From 2014 to 2019 Arnhold was the Chairman of the IECEx Conformity Assessment System. Before this, he was the Head of the German Delegation at the IECEx Management Committee for 7 years. In 2020 after the completion of his second and last term as Chairman of IECEx he became the German member of the IEC Conformity Assessment Board (CAB). In 2018 Arnhold was awarded with the Thomas A. Edison Award of IEC. He gives lectures of strategic management for small and mid-sized companies at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Science in Jena and of Safety Technology at the University of Applied Science Heilbronn and the Dresden International University (part of the TUD).
